Tokyo Kitchen in Montclair

This is one of my favorite lunch spots near Claremont. Great quality food and very attentive staff. A lot of food at a great price as well.

Note that I'm only reviewing on pan fried food not for sushi or wine bar. The food really is just okay. People basically go there to talk with the cooks and enjoy the "tricks" that they show to their customers. I'd rate five stars for their hospitality but it's still a restaurant so I must take the quality of food into consideration. The food tastes okay and it's prepared with a lot of soy sauce or teriyaki sauce. I didn't get sushi so I can't make a judgement on that.

Had my daughter's birthday here the food was good the portions of the food were big so you can share with someone it's comparable to like a Benihana's but smaller they also sang my daughter happy birthday and I was allowed to bring a cake in for her they kept it in the fridge for me which I thought that was nice so yes I recommend the place it's good for families and if you wanted to have a date here as well.

This place is amazing. Good food, good service. I've been coming here since I was a kid and never had any issues. It's a little on the expensive side, but it's worth it.

My Grandson's favorite place, also my whole family loves having dinner there, we were celebrating my Grandson's graduation. Great Service and great food also lots of fun.

The chef was amazing, he had great personality and cooked pretty well. The food had great flavor and was a decent portion for it price. I will definitely be back.

I have been coming here all my life and have only had very memorable and fun experiences.

They did an excellent job of servicing us! We had a large party that took up 3 grill/table areas and there were no mistakes on the orders. The food was delicious and our waitress was great! I didn't get her name, but she has short blonde hair. Thank you Tokyo Kitchen! We've been coming here since the kids were younger to celebrate their birthdays. Never a disappointment!

Took family for early Easter celebration dinner with children. Got a new chef who just cooked, very dissatisfied, especially for the children who kept looking at the other tables asking me their grandma WHY didnt we get a show. Nothing. You should put new cooks with just adults. If you go with children , ask if the chef will do the show so the children wont be dissappointed. That's the only reason we went tonight instead of Mexican, was so the kids could be entertained...

Been going to this place for over 25 years and not going back. Undercooked food, non-existent service and a lack of customer service. Try serving fresh vegetables and maybe people might enjoy the food and not leave negative reviews.

The wait can be a little long but it's worth it! Food is delicious! And they put on a nice little show for you while the cook is preparing the food in front of you.

their food is great but their place is a little bit ran down needs a little bit update and maybe clean up their bathroom definitely needs to be cleaner it really makes good for the customer if their environment is looks clean

Do not go here. Rude staff, dirty restaurant, horrible bar seats! Drive to Wabi Sabi in LaVerne you will be much happier and have a better experience! This place used to be good years ago. Too bad. May be nicer at lunch or something but I would not recommend.

Right off the bat upon entering, there was an old greasy smell. They have carpet in the dining area which is always a bad idea. The food was good, but I don't like that they use margarine instead of butter while cooking it. Our chef was great, awesomely entertaining. But he sprayed a lot of water on the walls which I think leads to that musty smell of the place. Also, the menus were all torn up. Really how much does it cost to get new menus? But it was entertaining! We came here because there usually is no wait time to be seated compared to Benihana.

Heard there was high energy and great food. But I was mistaken. The only decent thing was the fried rice. Other than that everything was extremely salty. I dont mean the "little " salty! It was overly salted I couldn't finish my food. And the chief looked like he was bored out of his mind. I probably wont go again

Great food and great ambiance.

They have very very little serving of food and i had Shrimp with shimpand the cook chop it up so small gave me very little and it was burned. This happen to me twice in a 4month period. Use to be my favorit place. But now i will take my business to a better Restaurants. 😢

The food was good the place could use a real update on decor.

Went the last day before quarantine shut down. Most staff seemed sad ,but still but on a good show. Have frequent for years. Expect about $120 for a family of 4 on average.

Standard Hibachi place. Good food, reasonably priced. Not too loud. Nothing fancy, but tasty nonetheless.

They don't do sushi anymore

Tokyo Kitchen is one of my favorites in the area. This is better than Benihanas from my personal opinion. I normally get the deluxe dinner and do not forget to ask for they hot sauce, which not only exquisite but also extremely hot! If you love spicy food, you must try it out!!!

Amazing teppanyaki restaurant. Friendly staff, amazing shows, must try the orange sauce, it is to die for.

Been going here for as long as I can remember. I've tried many different restaurants similar to this one but I always come back. Food is always phenomenal and the staff is always friendly. In my opinion it's a bit dated on the decor but when I have a bowl of friend rice in front of me nothing else matters. Pure bliss. Will be coming for as long as I'm alive.

Service was excellent. I had the filet mignon and shrimp and it was delicious, husband had the lobster and shrimp and he loved it, he doesn't really like zucchini but he loves it there and actually finishes it. Their sauces are the best. We had a nice dinner and the chef was very entertaining. Will definitely go back soon. Oh and their long island ice tea is pretty good.😉
